Wedding documents and Wedding Ceremony

Documents to be sent via email:
1. Valid passports
2. Marital Status certificate from the competent authority in the country with an official translation into English and duly certified with apostille
4. In case of divorced, a divorce certificate (final) with an official translation into English and duly certified
5. In the event of widowhood, death certificate of the spouse translated into English and duly certified
6. Copy of certificate of birth translated in English from official authority
7. If either party of the intended marriage is under 18 years of age he or she needs the written consent of the parents.
Here we assist couples with the mandatory legalities required to get married in Cyprus, ensuring that all paperwork are approved before the Wedding License application. In some cases, depending on the country of residence of the couple, Apostille stamps from various government ministers and embassies are required on the marriage certificate after the wedding has taken place. Rest assured, couples are advised appropriately on all procedures involved.

To ensure the success of your wedding day and your peace of mind, we require scanned copies of all of your documentation before you arrive in Cyprus but it is very important that you bring the original documents with you. Please note that, only original documents are acceptable .
Wedding Ceremony
The marriage ceremony is carried out in the presence of at least two witnesses, and it begins with the Marriage Officer reading a special text. Then the couple make in a public and festive way their declaration of their intention to get married. Finally, the Marriage Officer pronounces them man and wife.

Immediately upon the celebration of the marriage the Marriage Officer issues a certificate of marriage in three copies signed by himself, by the parties to of the marriage and by at least two witnesses. The original certificate of marriage is given to the married couple. the second copy is delivered within 7 days to the Marriage Registrar to be filed and the third copy is filed in the Municipality’s Register.

Please note: At a wedding in Cyprus the surnames can not be changed. On request, the registry office issues a certificate of consent for a name change. This certificate must be submitted within 3 months of your wedding day to the authorities of your home country or to a consulate / embassy of your home country in your country of residence.
The language of the ceremony is English or Greek language.
